I’ve had a package delivered to my parents (completely forgot to change address) which is fine but I won’t be home until the 21st.

First law is a very love it or hate series but it has a universally loved audiobook, top tier. But without spoilers, its a very controversial arc through the books. I loved it, my wife hated it, and distrusted my book recs for a while.

 

hell yeah, Bloodsworn is a very easy and fun read. Just finished it myself!

Reading The Rage Of Dragons and I’m pleasantly surprised at how much I’m enjoying it!

Finished this today. I generally agree with you, though I think I probably enjoyed it slightly more than you—a few more moments that moved me or elevated it from hack & slash fun, for example. It was definitely a solid trilogy throughout with a consistent pace and voice, and I really enjoyed my time with all the characters and will be back for more Gwynne soon.

during the middle third I was wishing for more innovative elements or surprises, like some kind of quest or mystical talisman or something, so that it didn't just feel like an extended siege; but then the final third with Snaka's heart and all the double- and triple-crossing was really great, and I like how everything wrapped up not exactly happy but at least in some kind of peace. Also I love that the world feels bigger than the story—all these gods and types of tainted and monsters that we only get references to but don't learn all the details about it. Great stuff.
