Okay fine, i change my mind, first order of business if i was czar of college football.... im getting rid of this ridiculus nonsense conference realignment that makes absolutely no sense geographically.

The poor MAC. One of the last conferences that had some sanctity .

I have no clue what to expect from this hire. I do think most of the takes about Belichick are exaggerated.

The whole “he sucked after Brady and Brady won a ring” thing. I get it. And I love Brady. But context matters there! Brady went to a team that was “a QB away” and had another HOF level HC. Belichick was left without a QB and with a rebuild. It didn’t go well. Doesn’t mean he can’t still coach.

And with the recruiting concerns…again, I get it. He’s old. But I’m not sure it matters that much? I’m pretty sure assistants do a lot of the heavy lifting in recruiting and the HC kinda closes the deal? Could be wrong. But they are building and reshaping the entire program. I’m sure they have a plan for recruiting.

And then there’s the whole thing about leaving as soon as an NFL job comes calling. I suppose this could happen. But it doesn’t worry me for a couple reasons. One, if that happens, it means we had great results and that sounds ok to me. Two, I don’t think he’d take this job just because it’s a job. From what I’ve read, the Belichick side made this happen just as much as the school. It almost sounds like his side initiated it all. So I do think it’s something he really wants to do.

I don’t know what to expect as far as results, but early indications tell me that this hire is at least expediting the school’s process in building a program for the modern era. There’s been so much change in college football. And to keep up, schools are going to have to invest, build strong NIL collectives, and basically operate as a professional organization would. I don’t know, I like the idea of Belichick and his network of NFL guys building that program?

But also, we are rarely good at football. If we wanna try bringing in the goat to fix things, who am I to complain? lol
