Anyway edamame is the most overrated shit ever. It's not bad but it's so nothing that most other things available would be better, people just like it for the salt levels anyway. Shishito peppers are a much better side dish in Japanese food

See I’m team “some food is a vehicle for other flavors”. Edamame tastes like nothing by itself but it’s a great vehicle for soy and some sort of chili-based rub. How is that different from tofu? It’s nothing but a chameleon for the other flavors around it, but that’s still a great way to get protein and some texture out of the dish regardless

Tofu is but I don't feel like edamame does a good job carrying flavor
