Yeah I think for season 3 Joe would quit field work and resign herself to managing the team from afar instead; no way would she let herself be put in that kind of danger again, especially with her husband being that close to probably divorcing her. She'll probably elevate Cruz to team leader.

That mission was seriously a wake up call to Joe.

I'm so bummed these 8 episodes went by so quick, I'm gonna miss it for sure in the off-season.

Watched Jingle All The Way and The Santa Clause for the first time ever this weekend (not sure if I saw them as a kid); decent Christmas films aimed at kids

Being from the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, it was fun seeing all the landmarks Arnold drove past and visited throughout that one day. Although, once his SUV ran out of gas, he seemingly then pushed the vehicle a huge f****** distance to get it parked next to that diner restaurant, which would be insane in reality. After seeing Phil Hartman in it, I went to Wikipedia to see how he died, and then I was like "Oh....."

The Day of the Jackal rules, and I say this as someone who doesn't really like Eddie Redmayne.

As a kid I loved Santa Clause, Jingle All The Way, Muppet Christmas Carol, Christmas Vacation, Home Alone 1 & 2, ect, ect, but the one I loved that I feel like is still a bit under the radar and more of a cult classic is Scrooged.

Dune Prophecy is falling pretty flat with me; just not much in it that’s appealing to me

it is a fun kid humor movie. That part where Sinbad gets kicked in the nuts absolutely killed in my 3rd grade classroom.

I always liked The Santa Clause the most as a kid. I always loved that Tim paid for them to use coke as snow in the movie.

I enjoyed it as a kid and rewatched it a few years ago and it does not hold up.

If its designed/aimed to appeal to kids, and kids do end up loving it, does that still make it a sucky movie? While watching it this weekend, all I could think of is "I can absolutely see how kids would have a lot of fun with this"

I’m not sure if a child has the best mindset to judge what is good or bad. Kids enjoy bad things all the time.

Nah, season 1; likely for those Paramount channel viewers that don’t have P+, and to hype buildup for the season 2 premiere on February 23rd

Another way to think of it is, if the director/writer designed it to do a certain thing, or get a certain reaction, and it does just that, exactly as they intended, can we as adults make a determination as whether it’s good or bad, despite what the primary audience thinks?

Yes. I can differentiate between good/bad vs is someone entertained by it or not.

Siskel and Ebert made this point brilliantly when they defended Star Wars from The New Yorker's snobby theater critic. John Simon was basically Roger Ebert's archnemesis.

  24. Sorry, I mean this in the most "I just found it funny way," but I did laugh at the praise of the Sheridan TV shows and all their 200 copies coming right before this convo.

Jingle all the way is not a good movie, but it's still a Christmas classic that ill watch every couple of years.

Also that interview with Ebert / Siskel is great. John Simon sounds like a snob who hates fun and was forced to put on a suit, be an adult and go to work before he was even 10 years old.
