That is also true. Randall 100% has not looked into the RB class beyond Jeanty. It's probably the best in a decade+.

 

I haven't watched many outside of Jeanty Judkins and Sampson and some others

I was so hyped on Ollie last season, I'm so bummed out about how this season has looked

 

I have 100%. You don’t remember I originally liked Quinshon Judkins a lot? I just think Jeanty’s contact balance and short area burst is legitimately R A R E - a RB hasn’t reminded me this much of MJD and Marshawn Lynch since…. MJD and Marshawn Lynch lol

 

Judkins had a "disappointing" year and I think that should tell you the quality of this class haha

Speed RBs can be boom or bust but Jeanty’s best skill is getting tough yards and turning broken tackles into chunk plays and that SUPER translates to the NFL

 

To be fair, Dustin just used Judkins as an example for NOT knowing that much about this class haha.

 

Then you should know theres a guy who is pacing Jeanty in chunk plays

 

Im not just looking at that I’m looking at the reason for chunk plays. For Jeanty it’s contact balance, and that is probably the most important skill for a RB to have, and probably the biggest thing Etienne lacks, that holds him back from being any good at all when the blocking isn’t great

 

If this was a class with like one or two actual guys then I'm for Jeanty* but this class is just too deep - even at the top - for the Jags to be spending a top ten pick on him

Jeanty is a rare talent but I get not going for him cuz so was Jonathan Taylor and Bijan Robinson and so on and so forth

 

Jahmyr Gibbs is exactly what comes to mind.

 

When I talk about contact balance, I’m not talking about trucking people. He can do that but generally when you truck someone it slows you down enough for someone else to tackle you 2-3 yards later

contact balance is, one guy hitting you doesn’t even faze you, you just keep your feet under you and hardly slow down, and simply bounce in the direction that the tackle attempt changed your momentum - and Jeanty is RIDICULOUS at that lol

 

No one is denying how good Jeanty is fwiw

 

but

A) the Lions already had a good to great OLine in place
B) the Lions had a ton of draft picks, so Gibbs was kind of like a cherry on top
C) he also shares heavily with Montgomery

 

I think Bijan is as rare as Jeanty but Taylor isn’t

 

Yeah I wasn't really referring to them as comparable players, moreso how they were seen (or SHOULD HAVE BEEN SEEN in regards to Taylor) relative to their class

 

I meant in terms of Bijan being super rare but the class still being great but yes you are correct

 

He only shares heavily with Montgomery cause Montgomery is also way too talented to sit haha, he’d be the clear cut lead back anywhere else and if Montgomery had a bad couple games you’d see Gibbs’ touches increase - but D-Mo keeps proving every single game that he’s a great RB too
