I don't know how much of it is media draft fluff or not as I also don't follow as closely, but the whole narrative of Deion picking/choosing/influencing which team Shedeur goes to has me extremely grateful we have Maye and can avoid all that ... if there's any validity to it.

 

Shedeur is very talented but yeah he's almost undraftable to me. I feel like you have to be Mike Tomlin to be able to get what you need out of that situation

It reminds me a lot of Kyler at TAMU (Riley/Oklahoma worked wonders for him)

 

The whole QB class makes me grateful for Maye. Like, would Sanders or Ward even outrank Penix and Nix if it was all one class?

How was Baker a big reach? He was a fourth rounder, not that wild he hasn’t earned playing time yet

After the Little signing, Jags need IOL much more than tackle, which doesn’t come at a premium in terms of draft capital. I’m giving Anton and Little at least a year to prove they can be our tackles of the future. Both are young and better than the OTs they replaced, Little is CHEAP for an extended starter at LT while Anton isn’t due an extension for at least 2 years (and is eligible for a 5th year option), and we haven’t seen either of their full potential yet

The secondary does need another CB opposite Campbell which is why Hunter is my #1, and probably some safety help, but I think Campbell and Jarrian are good and are just being exposed by a defense that constantly leaves them isolated in one on ones. Nielsen does that more than any other DC and it’s killing us. I really wonder if that’s stretching our safeties thin too and causing Cisco to make more overaggressive mistakes trying to compensate

A need at DT, sure, definitely - that’s more of an early round 2 thing than an early round 1 thing (Christian Barmore is a good example) - unless there’s a generational talent available, but there seems to not be in this class. But also that adds insult to injury to the Maason Smith pick we JUST made last year, we’d already be admitting we wasted that pick before we even gave him play time. It would be much preferred if the guy we ALREADY drafted in round 2 can be an answer at DT.

Another good WR would be very welcome, I’d be stoked with Tetairoa.

trade down for Jeanty isn’t the only option, but if a trade down is clearly available and Travis Hunter is gone it’s not a bad option to me. Anything that takes pressure off Trevor Lawrence is my number one priority. I say we take either Hunter or a big time offensive weapon in round 1 and then focus on defense and IOL rounds 2-5.

Our running game is one of our biggest needs if you ask me. Etienne has been SURPRISINGLY bad, like nowhere near what he should be as a year 4 RB who was drafted early, and Bigsby has only been good in what, 2-3 games, there’s absolutely nothing to balance out the passing attack and get defenses off the blitz. I absolutely think we need a large upgrade there and I absolutely don’t think Bigsby is leading this rushing attack, he’s a complement

In a deep class you still have to pick the RIGHT one. Sure all those guys could be something, but only a couple of them actually will. I’d be stoked to have a top tier solution at RB and be done drafting RBs for a few years. Tired of playing g around with “well he COULD be good” / “he SHOULD be good” give me a “he IS good and even the worst team in the NFL can’t make him look bad”.

I see @CarpetElf suggesting we keep drafting mid round RBs until we have 3 solid ones, but to me spending a second or third round pick almost every year on a RB is just as wasteful as spending a first once. I also see our predicament the opposite - we already have solid backup RBs in Bigsby and D’Ernest but we don’t have an RB1. I literally do think we could be done with that position if we took a premium RB1 and that would open up our 3rd round picks the next few drafts to address other positions we need that quality talent can be drafted that late… like DT, IOL, S, and a WR2 or 3 to complement BTJ.

 

Hey, Pickens is still a real good player lol if you got a coach who can manage personalities like that it can be worth it

I respect you not thinking trade down for Jeanty is a good idea though, there’s a lot of reasons that are fair that we shouldn’t. I just think there’s also a lot of reasons that are fair that we should haha

 

Aaron Jones, Tony Pollard, etc...

There are idk maybe 5 teams in the league that shouldn't be drafting a RB at some point
