Another pressing of The Season. I almost want to get it even though I don't have a record player.

If you don't have it, get it. One day, you'll likely have a record player.

  9. God damnit, Movement does it for me every time. This EP is just perfect.

Same. It feels like there is no time wasted on Movement, it gets in and out in under 20 minutes. Great batch of songs.

Listened to this band for the first time yesterday in prep for their spot on the YBI tour...what's Andy Hull's involvement? Because my first impression of them was pretty much "this sounds like manchester orchestra"

  12. AGO is on Favorite Gentlemen. Andy also cowrote on the new record, so yeah it wound up sounding a lot like them haha.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Figure I don't like the new album as much as I wanted to due to Andy Hull's involvement. The production is one-dimensional (a lot of solid layering, but there's no dynamic), and though AGO usually has pop-structured songs, the songs were just too predictable. I appreciate it - it's definitely not a bad record. I just don't ever revisit those songs like I do the Movement EP and The Season.

  14. Looove the production on NLAQ. Most of the songs themselves are kinda stripped of what made me fall in love with AGO in the first place but I still really like half of the record.

I guess it kind of feels like a more fleshed out version of his solo record, which I guess it kind of is since he's really the only one left. The Season was all songs that had been with an actual band of four people for a few years. That being said, hoping for another Hussey record late this year.

I need to give NLAQ another spin. I was initially disappointed by it and felt like it sounded too much like Manchester.

I don't and never have thought these guys sound much like Manchester but I guess that's just me.

Yeah I never thought those comments were warranted either, until NLAQ. That one definitely justifies the Manchester comparisons, which is a shame because I feel like those comparisons generally make them out to be a poor man's version or whatever.

I like NLAQ almost as much as the season so I'm really surprised to see this reaction to it. I get the whole Manchester thing from his voice but don't think it's a huge deal.

also they still kill it live.

Ehhh, I hear MO like stuff during a couple parts of a couple songs of NLAQ. Whatever is the biggest culprit, but I think the album has its own sound.

But I will concede Nathan's vocals on the final chorus of Get My Cut do sound like Andy. When he does the small run down on the word "cut" one of the last times, I always get huge Andy vibes. Other than that, I think they're different enough.

I feel like the two bands have always sounded similar, which is fine - they're both great.

I prefer the Season to Quitter, but that isn't an insult; the Season is a top 10 album of all time for me (at least).
