I just looked it up - not as long ago as I thought, the last decade has just felt like several. 2016, with Panic! opening. I'll give a chronicle here so as not to upset too many Weezer (or P!atD) fans and also because we could use some levity today.

I never go to gigs of this size and I had no real desire to see Weezer live. I like the original two albums and maybe 15 songs since then out of the other albums I've heard. Nothing about what they sound like on record made me think they were likely to improve on that in a live setting. (some bands are just like that to me - the studio versions seem like the point. see also interpol or the strokes) but a friend I had not seen in ages had two free passes so why not.

I've since come to like maybe a dozen panic! at the disco songs (what can I say life is short and I'm picky) but at the time I had basically no real exposure to them other than "nine in the afternoon" (which they did play) and had no real feelings about them either way. my only real takeaway was that brendon urie in 2016 sadly not pitch perfect, especially and most egregiously on "bohemian rhapsody"....what an unforced error. this show convinced me that panic! are/were probably best off as a studio experience as well.

as for weezer....I mean look at that setlist. a handful of their most dogshit songs played in full while "the good life", "only in dreams" and some others get mashed into medleys? very bad. as for the stage antics, I guess we got off easy compared to some other tours, but we were "treated" to a Drake snippet (no one hates him like a local, trust me) and Rivers pulling up Twitter to see what people were Tweeting about the show....during the show. I was glad we got "perfect situation" at least. still: mortifying.

Ok that’s also a great Weezer setlist lol. Would kill to hear California Kids live.

that's a good one. unfortunately I absolutely hate "island in the sun", "hash pipe" and "beverly hills" and most of the other newer ones on that setlist are whatever to me.

also I would like to see the worst weezer setlist. to get the thread back on topic I would also take worst FOB setlist.

Worst Weezer setlist: Every song off Ratitude. Encore is "Crab" and "Beverly Hills."
Worst FOB setlist: The most annoying songs off AB/AP and MANIA (your choice). Encore is their greatest hits featuring C-tier rappers.
(Full disclaimer: I do enjoy some off AB/AP and MANIA, they're just the easiest albums to dislike.)

I don't dislike AB/AP but it is the most difficult album of theirs for me to remember almost anything about. I cannot explain why.

If the encore doesn't include PaxAm Days, what are we even doing

re: AB/AP, "Twin Skeletons", "Kids Aren't All Right," "Novocaine," "Jet Pack Blues" and "Fourth of July" are the keepers (in that order). the rest is ditchable.

add the good half of M A N I A and you could in theory construct "the good FOB mutant pop era album"

for me the good half of M A N I A is "Bishops," "Last of the Real Ones," "Sunshine Riptide", "Heaven's Gate" and "Church" (in that order). "Stay Frosty" does slam but the lyrics are so bad lol

Wilson is clearly the best song on that album and Top 5 of post-hiatus era until Stardust came out
