I’ve no idea how big Jimmy Kimmel is, but I will say I’ve watched this performance loads. It fucking rules to see a band get this opportunity without dumbing themselves down, if anything they’ve gotten heavier and more unforgiving over time.

Something about the ending is so cool. Thr alternating pyro, Poppy’s massive scream, and Bryan doing a pig squeal in the rain. I suspect a lot of kids saw this and for the first time they thought, “damn, metal’s actually fucking cool.”

 

I have a hard time imagining “jimmy Kimmel fans” it does kinda read as people trolling on Facebook pretending to be angry moms but maybe it’s real

There's definitely some of that especially as it started catching on in the news but there are absolutely Facebook parents that love commenting on things to complain about stuff

honestly i think the hypothetical metal kid most of you are referring to is more likely to be served this band through an algorithm than discovering them on this show

the anecdotal evidence about you discovering metal on tv is meaningful but less relevant now

there’s a win here but it’s for a massively broad range of alternative genres that might now get a chance on kimmel, not just metal - and probably mostly not metal???

and the opposition to them being on tv is a handful of tweets that have been generated into a story - it’s not important

i enjoy that this happened but the world is not as romantic as this forum
