I actually love how different this looks, there's no reason all Star Wars needs to have the same vibe. Hopefully it pays off

Vibes all around seem pretty high for this; bringing smiles to people's faces

  11. Second episode was great too. They got the tone just right. The kids are solid. The pirate spaceport is one of the better wretched hives of scum and villainy since the original cantina. Aside from Andor (and in a completely different way), this is the freshest Star Wars has felt for me since TLJ.

Fun that Lowery coming off his Peter Pan movie got to introduce a pirate droid named SM33.

the actress that plays Fern does a fantastic job embodying her character's personality

I’m all in on this show. It’s the only one I’ve been excited about other than Andor and I’m so glad it’s delivering because kids on a coming of age, fantastical journey set in the Star Wars universe is my bread and butter. I’m vibing with it pretty hard.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

this is really sweet and fun so far. always a gamble asking young actors to carry a show and they waited a minute to bring Jude in as well but these kids are nailing it, the one playing Fern especially

I hope they fix that droid cos Nick Frost was killing it as the voice

The SW universe having normal-ass suburbs is uninspired and depressing

I’m also assuming it’s very much gonna be a “not what it seems, this place is fascist af” kinda deal as the mystery of this planet is unraveled

Haven't seen this yet but heard good things so I'm excited... but on advertising...

Was this hyped up / anticipated or did it just kind of drop? It wasn't on my radar but that's not saying all that much. If it came in quietly, maybe that's what Disney needs to do with star wars project. I feel like the long announced shows, with article upon article about casting / directors / plot points just gets fed into the outrage machine and then everyone has a preconceived notion about it that they then bend over ass backwards to justify.

It's almost like this show came out of nowhere, nobody had any expectations about it, watched it honestly, and then found it good? Pretty refreshing if that's the case.

I mean, I’ve known about it for a long time now.

Guess it depends who you follow and such.

Yeah, it definitely seems like their planet has been hidden from the rest of the galaxy for so long that they completely missed the fall of the old Republic, the rise of the empire, the fall of the empire, and the rise of the New Republic. So these kids - and presumably most of the citizens of At Attan - likely have no knowledge of anything that happened to the Jedi in the wake of Order 66. The tablet Wim keeps looking at is all about the Jedi knights of old patrolling the galaxy so Jude Law’s character being a scoundrel in hiding is obviously going to be a shock to him. There is definitely something fascy going on behind their reasoning for keeping the planet hidden. I’ve seen theories about the government using their hidden planet and people as a staging ground for building all of the starships seen on planet Exegol in Rise of Skywalker, but who knows. I can see that making some sense in that it’s a governing body waiting in the shadows for their time to strike and the fall of the Empire would be an opportunity to help kickstart the “First Order”. Could help explain how and where all of those starships came from and nobody knew about it. I’d be perfectly happy to watch a show that has nothing to do with the rest of the series, let alone Rise of Skywalker, but the theory was interesting.
