That band should stay dead, it would be bad if they came back, but every time they come up in this thread it feels like a “running out of things to be mad about” type discussion. They’re dead, they haven’t announced a tour, and there are only rumblings from “oh a friend of a friend of mine says they’re coming back” posts on Reddit. Like what’s the point of constantly re-litigating this?

Almost certainly not, mostly because I have no desire to go to expensive, hyped up shows surrounded by dudes who look like me.

The hypervigilance around this particular band continues to be deeply strange and I think an expression of displaced guilt and maybe denial over the wider toxicity of the overall scene.

You say this, except you're dodging the obvious question I'm asking.

I guarantee you, the people unwilling to give money to this band are also likely to not give money to other similarly problematic people.

Trying to handwave the situation because you presume other people are handwaving other situations is a really lazy copout.

 

Is it a dead horse if people keep bringing it back up? Especially when it gets brought back up to obfuscate discussions about other problematic artists?

Sure, everything that can be said about the issue itself has been said, but it's troubling that it remains an emblem for people to use to undermine valid discussion.
