Falling Up Band

This band started in the early '00s as a pretty standard contemporary Christian rock band. Then over the years, they gradually became SO much more, becoming a genuinely thrilling progressive/experimental rock band with hauntingly gorgeous melodies and arrangements. To me this is best exemplified by their self-titled final album, released in 2015, which I truly believe is a criminally underrated masterpiece.

Man, I loved this band. I feel like they never got the attention they deserved because their first 2 albums were slightly "bro-rock." Their later stuff was so good.

 

Yeah I totally agree, I think both their early sound, and them being very explicitly Christian rock early on, ended up limiting the audience for their phenomenal later work. But man... what an evolution.

 

I'm revisiting their discography for the first time in years. I hadn't heard their early albums in basically a decade and it's interesting how I like them much more than I did back then? It's like a mix of Story Of The Year + Skillet + early Linkin Park and early The Used at times. I'm surprised they didn't get bigger because the riffs and the hooks are there.

 

They got bored with the mainstream rock sound and made a bunch of proggy concept albums instead. They definitely could have made it big with their earlier sound, but I like that they decided to get weird with it instead.

 

Yeah, I love their later albums the most, but still dig their early stuff.

 

So is this a new Falling Up album?? Exciting if so

 

It is! From the little I remember from last year's announcement, it's their final album under this moniker. It's supposed to pick up where the story told in Fangs! left off. They'll still make music afterwards but it'll be under The Chilling Alpine Adventure.

They're bringing Falling Up back, with a yet to be announced line up, for a final album. The latter will be related to Fangs! and will also sorta kick off a new rebranded band, The Chilling Alpine Adventure.
