Swap Nine and Cali and he's OK to come into the club. Still gotta pay cover though.

Mark is such a casual fan he probably thinks All The Small Things is their best song.

Not surprised either, but I always felt he was a really important member of the band, almost as Deryk, during their best years. He was so fun. It would have been cool if he had rejoined or something.

New Green Day has gotten more plays than I expected as a pretty casual fan. I think it’s cool their new record got a nomination but it’s a travesty blink got snubbed. Would have been rad to see them both on the roster.

I think American Idiot was the last Green Day album I really cared about.

Swap untitled and OMT and it’s pretty close for me.

Besides One More Time it is interesting Mark views their post untitled albums so low in the ranking

I mean it’s hard to argue against how massive Enema through Untitled were. He is definitely factoring in success to the equation.

True, even though I might be biased because of nostalgia Enema through Untitled was my favorite time period of the band.

  12. Man I’m sad he put Dude Ranch so low lol

  13. Me too. Makes me less hopeful we will ever get any kind of big Dude Ranch love from them.

You hear it from a lot of bands of the same age/stature that they're not big on their earlier work.

Dude Ranch is my second favourite album by them. But I can see how Mark feels as though it may be unpolished, juvenile and scrappy. Us fans absorb art very differently to those who created it. We don't hear/see the writing sessions, rushed chorus' and relentless in-studio takes.

Deryck's book talks about how some of his earlier stuff from Half Hour Of Power and AKNF he's not crazy about, and I just listened to a podcast with Dexter and Noodles about how surprised they are SMASH gets so much love.

That being said, Mark's wrong. Dude Ranch is elite.

I've also always wondered if the general reception by the public to albums affects how the artist would rank it in their discography. It has to, right?

It's in Tom's contract that Mark had to rank one Skiba album under Neighborhoods

Anytime I've seen a Skiba ranking of Trio albums it's like solely based on how the actual recording process of the album was for him, so of course Good Mourning is always at the bottom lol

Generally pretty much every artist says whatever their newest release out is crushes. NINE has its place in the blink catalogue and I really came around on it in the year leading up to OMT but I firmly put it in their worst modern record. Glad it exists though and it’s always a fun listen whenever I go back to it. Would love to hear Darkside live with Tom signing on it.

I’m bummed Mark said we’ll never hear the Skiba songs post NINE.

After the couple Skiba demos we heard I'm fine with not hearing it really. They weren't better than Nine which mostly has what I think was the best work they could've done together. Aside from going all in on a Cure/Crimson influenced album that probably wouldn't have been well received commercially lol

The song could (likely) suck but I'd still want to hear it/download it. I'm too much of a completionist and the possibility of a song floating around somewhere out there makes me need it.

    Things have changed.

And then when they were promoing OMT, he answered a question like "did you top your last album?" with "oh ... EASILY"
