I’ve been in a bit of a funk with being able to connect to any new (to me, regardless of release year) music the last few months or so but this, THIS is something that immediately struck a cord with me. idk any of the beefs or references on this but that hasn’t dampened my enjoyment of this. I haven’t really connected or loved any of Lamar’s other work and this genre isn’t my usual jam which makes this super surprising to me that I love this so much and strikes me personally as a breath of fresh air and something exciting.

Also TERRIFIC to listen to on runs as I’ve done the last two mornings.

Dodger Blue needs to be another minute or two long it’s like the opposite of overstaying your welcome

where would i be if i was my brain Prestigious

I kinda see this as a pseudo-sequel to GKMC. With how upfront some of the samples are I feel like this is that same kid driving around listening to the radio and rhyming over everything he hears.

The more I listen to this the more I start to understand how this will fit into the context of his discography. It definitely feels like a "smaller" project compared to his other albums but I think he needed an album like this, just pure bangers while still keeping the deep lyricism and concepts that we've come to expect from him too

Yeah, i love this album. Still on the same level of quality as the four that came before it. It’s just the most streamlined one, and while I miss the knotty songwriting and more complex beats, I’m sure we’ll get an album like that sometime in the future. It helps to round out his catalogue to have an album so direct.

I've listened to squabble up about 30 times tonight lol

There’s a lot on here I find irritating which is how I felt about the last two also. Probably will listen to this more than either of those. I don’t really think this feels any slighter than damn, tho, and it think it’s probably a better attempt at a ‘pop’ album

It is funny to play Kendrick for people who aren’t super into him. I put it on in front of my study hall when it dropped and the kids were laughing at his silly voices

For whatever reason I've never really been bothered by his voices, like him going "whaaaaaaaaaaaa" on the title track cracks me up it's so goofy lol

This is how i feel, too. Feel like i first heard it in Backseat Freestyle, which was one of the first tracks of his i heard, and it never bothered me since.

A ton of rappers do voices, usually the more talented ones, it really isn’t that unique or unusual.

  24. $33 plus shipping for a single LP is pretty wack. I wound up getting Mr. Morale for $10 from Walmart when they were clearing out their vinyl, and I'm willing to bet someone will have this cheaper in-person when it hits stores.

The sample from the Debbie deb track and the beat from Squabble up is stuck in my head.
