That's a fair point, looking at from accidental versus not. I think I am more thinking of what I think the impact would be on the person finding out.

 

my mom and aunt are super into the ancestry.com and tracing our lineage and i've told them to stop asking family to submit their dna because of stuff like that. we also have our own story from it lol.

they found out their mom was conceived outside of marriage and we're all only half aunts/uncles/cousins with her side of the family lol. My great grandma cheated on her husband when he was fighting in WW2 in Germany. Which, actually works out for us because Alzheimer's runs in his side of the family and now we don't have to worry about it. now they're trying to connect with their half siblings and it's a whole thing

 

I’ve been desperate to do one of those things for years but never got around to it and then starting reading all the shit they do with your dna so I never did it. I think NatGeo does one that I hope is a little less shady with your dna but I haven’t looked deep enough it it to do it yet

 

I have Mormon relatives and the church basically makes you do that ancestry shit so my cousins have gotten super into it. It sucks I hate it

re: Ancestry, I’d love to take one of those tests to find out what I am on my dads side, only because he’s such a pathological liar that I have no idea what he’s said is actually true. I’m not interested in it in the sense that whatever I find out, I’d make that my whole new identity or anything, just curious where that side comes from. If there’s any of those kind of tests out there that aren’t problematic I’d love to know lol

If you can afford it, Cary is an extremely chill place to live. I recommend Remington’s Grill next time you’re in the area. Amazing bbq/chicken sandwich spot. Also, H-Mart for groceries (amazing Taiwanese restaurant inside) and Boba Baba (locally owned bubble tea shop). The two are basically across the street from each other.
