I think the best thing to do after losing an election to a bunch of fascists is to throw vulnerable people under the bus because they're inconvenient.

 

Not only that, but they barely won, and from exit polling it mostly seems to be because of inflation/economic issues. People that voted for Trump in 2016, but didn't show up in 2020, showed up enough this time to erase any gains Harris made in swing states, and of course Harris lost some voters compared to 2020, and there doesn't seem to be much (any?) evidence it has anything to do with trans people. Yeah those commercials "worked", but would they have worked as well if inflation didn't happen, or if Harris messaged better, or if people just paid closer attention to the news/elections? Like how many polls have we seen now showing that Trumps biggest margins were with people that knew nothing about the news/election---which means they only thing they did know was what those awful commercials were telling them.

I’m reading Mort right now as my second Discworld book. I’m going to the first one next for a book club in a Facebook group I’m in.

 

Is there any chance this was all some weird hail mary to try and minimize the damage of ignoring the ethics report? It sorta kinda makes sense in a twisted way. But I still gotta imagine house simply being "no we're not going release the report lol but he can stay in congress" would've gotten far less media attention
