Imagine telling people you sawed your own leg off to escape an insane murder trap constructed by a psychopath, but they’re all just like “yeah okay good” while they watch the 2nd plane hit over and over again

it says Panos is gonna be directing the visuals for her next album, so i'm curious to see what comes of that

 

I'm not a creative so idk, but it's literally never occured to me to remake something or that something should be remade with me as a star or even like a minor character. Aside from when I was a kid and rly wanted to be cast as Luna Lovegood before I remembered I'm not British and also not talented

Tho I do look more like Amy winehouse than whoever played her in that biopic recently. But again, I got no talent haha

 

Finally got to see Smile 2 and I've got questions/thoughts about what was and wasn't "real".

My understanding was that everything was real except everything involving "Gemma." When she first got a call from "Gemma" immediately after Skye calls her, my red flag went up and I had a weird feeling she was probably the Smile demon messing with her ala Rose's therapist in the first film. Only difference this time being that "Gemma" stuck around from the start. I started noting that Gemma never interacts with anyone else in the film and no one else seems to acknowledge her presence. The scene in Skye's apartment when her mom shows up is the only scene we see with both Gemma and her mom together in the same room, but her mother never acknowledges "Gemma's" presence. Instead we get a single shot of "Gemma" saying "Hey Elizabeth" but we don't see Elizabeth's reaction. So "Gemma" is "real" but only for Skye. Everything else going on is really happening. I got the impression that even her meeting with Morris at the bar about how to kill the demon was also real, but her "trip" with him to Long Island is not. Once that terrifying scene with the dancers in her apartment happens and the demon reaches down her throat, everything that happens once she wakes up in the bed at the "celebrity retreat" is fake. It's the fever dream result of the monster reaching down her throat and controlling her narrative ("You're not in control, I am"). So the whole movie is real save for the scene waking up in the retreat bed going forward. So killing her mom, escaping, getting into the SUV with "Gemma", and then arriving at Long Island are the only non-reality parts.

Does that...seem right? I honestly wasn't sure, but I think I am currently preferring to view it that way because I don't like the idea of almost none of it being real at all.

it really isn’t a lot, probably only a day when she’s in bed time wise, but a lot of shit does happen in that period.

 

On Smile 2 as we speak. Sound design and effects are really cool so far. Saved up for the past year to splurge on a Sonos surround set up and oh boy it’s delivering.

Update: Naomi was awesome.. definitely excited to see her in future films, but I found this to be, underwhelming? I left feeling similarly to how I felt after seeing Talk To Me. Like, everything is there, and I want to love it, but I think I went in with too high of expectations. I found Smile (1) to be way more unsettling in that I felt more for the characters.

 

Okay but Seuss version of the bear suit.

also just watched Opera, this guy is nuts

 

The Substance fucked me up tonight. I usually tolerate gore and gross stuff with no issue but I could not handle the 2nd half of the movie. Extremely effective gross out effects and body horror design. That will be a movie I never rewatch because it made me so uncomfortable. That’s a rare feat.

 

I must be a real sicko because I expected to be far more grossed out by it honestly

 

I wasn’t really grossed out by it. The Front Room still holds the title for grossest film of the year for me and not in a good way lol

 

The stuff that made me cringe in The Substance was none of the actual body horror and all of the needles

 

Looking forward to Smile 2 this weekend, but why is it so long? It's 10 minutes shorter than Megalopolis lol

 

just wait til we get the Snyder Cut, dawg

 

does everyone also say "you oughta get that fixed..." when you see someone's tail light is out? just me?
