Before the most recent influx, don’t think they would’ve made it there. Matt Yglesias got scared off forever ago. John Fetterman recently joined, though, and had too many positive replies; alas.

Mostly, I’m just shocked Lincoln Project still exists and somehow got reposted into my timeline, lol.

If you have actual morals and ethical beliefs, you know where you stand on issues.

If you’re a centrist you don’t actually believe in anything, you’re just getting pulled around and capitulating to the worst people to attempt to seem reasonable.

If the military makes a move against the cartels? The 1.5 million Americans citizen living in Mexico (including all the white Americans currently gentrifying Mexico City), the even more millions of Mexicans who have relatives living in America, they are all going to become targets for being held hostage, torture, execution.

Not to mention the cartels have already been infiltrating the US military for decades. It would be an epic quagmire.

Also if that happened I would expect any assistance that Mexico provides for us on the border would go away and then I would expect them to stop accepting deportations.

Also the idea that "the cartels have no idea what it's like fighting American special operators!"

The Zeta cartel leaders were originally Mexican military who were trained by US Special Forces. I think they have an idea.

I’ve been saying this on this website and it’s predecessor for over 10 years and you’ve always argued with me!
Also this and John’s coverage of the whole “woke” narrative have been good. Not his biggest fan but credit where it’s due when everyone else is in the media is just capitulating to conservative narratives

consider me completely ignorant when it comes to the UN, but . . . is this how it works? 14 for and 1 against and the resolution doesn't pass? Does it have to be unanimous or is the US just that big of a bully?

    my gut says: yes

I think any of the five permanent members, of which the US is one, has veto power.

This is something that I can't stop thinking about too - like I think if UN votes were covered in the media in any real sense where they make it to the mainstream people would be SHOCKED at how bad the U.S. looks all the time haha

I still think about the votes for the Cuba embargo and 'should food be a human right' all the time
