Spinning my copy of No Closer To Heaven for the first time in a while. This record is a lot better than I gave it credit for when it came out.

lately it's been getting late, but i'm not tired

Their career trajectory so far has been so weird to me. the bands they used to tour with feel like an entirely different scene compared to who they tour with now. crazy to think that three years ago i saw them for the first time with fireworks, hostage calm, and misser. all of those bands are dead now. it feels like forever ago

Aaron West and The Roaring Twenties just put up a cover of The Weakerthans' "My Favourite Chords" on Bandcamp, and the entire Aaron West catalog (including the cover) is up for pay what you want with all proceeds going to the ACLU through November 28th.

So, over in the TWY/Real Friends Tour thread, Nick said the following in regards to a discussion about bands they may go on tour with in the future:

"We won't be touring for a minute after this so who knows what we'll end up doing."

    New album 2017 confirmed?!

I mean, they've released an album every two years like clockwork since 2007 so I was expecting it already anyway. It's just always reassuring to get confirmation (not that this was confirmation, I'm just excitedly treating it as such).

I feel like we' get an album late 2017 or early 2018.

Either way I can't wait and feel like it will end up being their best work to date. Hopefully no issues with the production/mixing this time

A trump presidency is going to make a great political TWY record imho.

Myself and a lot of people thought NCTH came out sounding worse than it could have.

He said something along the lines of they wish they had a few more weeks to work on the album but they had to hit their deadline

I wouldn't be surprised if they took a significant amount of time off. They've been going at it pretty hard for awhile.

Yah, ever since they put out the Upsides the have been going full blast. Even when they had down time they would be in the studio recording.

Especially since Dan just got married, I really wouldn't be shocked to see them take a break. I don't if it will be a long break, but I think the need a bit of a breather.

I've noticed that I have never heard The Wonder Years use the same vocalist at the same time on their records. I think it is called an over dub or something when a vocalist does this. I know most lead vocalist do this. Does anyone know if The Wonder Years ever do this?

Just finished listening to all four albums through for this first time in a while (haven't listened to TGG probably since I saw them play it live, and NCTH since a few months after it was released). This band has been a part of my life longer than most bands still listen to, even if I listen to them far less than I used to. Its insane to listen to the progression from Won't Stay Pathetic Forever through NCTH. This band really is incredible in their own right.

And I guess since I just listened to them and its fresh, here's a "hot take".
Suburbia>Wont Stay Pathetic Forever>The Upsides>The Greatest Generation>No Closer To Heaven

I'm about 80% sure Dan has never used this. I think I remember him saying something a while ago, that he wants the vocals on the record to sound as they will sound when he sings them live.

The Upsides has some overdubs and a little autotune and such, like most rock/pop punk records do. But Steve Evetts doesnt use any of those techniques when he produces, he keeps things raw and as if theyre in a live setting. So from Suburbia onwards theres little to no effects on Dans voice.

Don't know if this has been brought up yet, but has anyone else here seriously considered playing "I Just Wanna Sell Out My Funeral" at their actual funeral?
