Frankly I think Erdtree being able to contend for GOTY is well deserved and a good thing, it completely blows everything else released this year out of the water (I haven’t played metaphor past the demo chill) and it deserves the award like ten times over. It is a masterpiece.

 

I haven’t played it and have no issue with it winning any award in a show everyone is watching for trailers and reveals anyway, but it feels like the rules are changing just so it can win. Which is fine, but now the winner feels too obvious.

 

I haven’t played it either, but I’d love a Metaphor upset just so it gets more recognition.

Shadow of the Erdtree was a better, more complete experience than a lot of games that came out this year. It feels closer in scope to something like Spiderman: Miles Morales than an expansion.

But even if it wasnt, honestly who cares. Like, are you saying that the sanctity of The Game Awards has been compromised?

 

I mean, shadow is great, but I don't think any of that is really true.

I just don't think DLC should qualify against games built new from the ground up. They should just have their own category.

 

Listing a bunch of great games doesn’t mean Erdtree wasn’t better. Again, such a strong negative reaction is completely foreign to me. Maybe because I have real problems

 

You don't even need real problems. 'What time should I go to bed tonight' is a bigger problem than this
