I do not get this incredibly bleak and depressing world AI people want to live in where art is just watered down gobbledegook spit out from a computer. It’s so depressing.

 

People just want to live in the Matrix, man.

 

You’re mistaking my point. I’m not pro AI. I sympathize with feeling that the eventual extreme is bleak & not something I want to see.

But that doesn’t mean that this equation still makes sense to me:

human input + use of technology = art

 

To paraphrase something someone posted at me recently, you don't have to try to justify the things that people do if you yourself don't believe them.

If you think that the future is bleak if we keep down this path, then you don't have to come up with reasons for people to stay on the path.

 

I’m not trying to justify it. It’s truly how I feel.

If a musician uses auto tune to change their voice, it’s fine. I love Bon Iver.

If a photographer uses software to change their pictures, it’s fine. I love album covers.

If someone who can’t paint or draw uses a screen printing machine, it’s fine. I love concert posters.

Same here. But for the record, yes. I know it just mass consumes human generated content after being “trained” and regurgitates impressions when prompted.
