I'll add to the vast of night love, but it's slow and a bit show offy? I didn't think the plot was all that thought provoking, but it's beautifully filmed (a fantastic and memorable tracking shot), and it spends a lot of time showing off all the period equipment used, like the phone operators. It's a good movie, but it's definitely 'artsy', slow, and seems a bit like an audition tape for hollywood with the accuracy of props and the slow and meticulous shooting style (which was successful based on the cast of the directors next movie). It's also got a very distinct dialogue style that I could see being off putting.

 

I thought this was terrible... it's basically a vehicle for jump scares. They're non stop. The plot is flimsy and it never went anywhere, there's barely any reveals, twists etc. Just 90 minutes of dinosaurs, guns and jump scares. That may actually sound awesome to some though...

dunno if this is the right thread but it's so hard to categorise that I may as well put it here: absolutely loved the miniseries The Resort. starts out like a cute murder mystery caper a la Knives Out and just gets wilder and wilder. the writer (same guy who wrote the fantastic timeloop movie Palm Springs) is just so good at using sci-fi concepts as a way into human moments that really hit you hard. plus the married couple is Cristin Milioti and William Jackson Harper and that is the greatest married couple casting of all time, both in terms of equal talent and mutual hotness. great show, highly recommend
