Balatro is GOTY or at least mine, followed closely by Shadow of the Erdtree and Animal Well. Haven’t yet played UFO50 but I’m sure it’s also deserving considering its developers.

 

Don’t think dragon age will get a goty nod, dunno if it even deserves it since I don’t play many games right when they come out (it’s probably as good as rebirth, which I did play) but I hope to see it nominated in art direction

There aren't really any games this year that I feel transcend their flaws enough to be considered a frontrunner for GOTY. I'd be more inclined to just give it to something unique like Kunitsu-Gami than FFVIIR or Dragon's Dogma 2. To be fair, Stalker 2 and Flight Sim release in a week so we'll see if that holds.

Echoes of Wisdom is amazing. Think of Link’s Awakening, but with open-ended puzzle solving from TotK.

 

Did you start it yet? I have been putting it off for a long time but I Just started TLOU Part 1 today. Very impressed so far, hopefully I can make it through considering it is a relatively short game. I find it very difficult to finish a video game these days...I am so close to beating Divinity 2, Disco Elysium, and Persona 4.

My super hot take: one is a great game, but 2 is in my top five of all time. S-tier characters and writing.

Echoes of Wisdom, Astro Bot, and Silent Hill 2 Remake are the only 2024 games I’ve played so far and I’ve only finished Astro Bot.
