In fairness the lad I knew that did it was a bit odd even aside from the reffing haha.

Don’t PL refs make like £50-100k a year?

That’s not exactly nothing given the average UK wage is like £35k and it’s a relatively low cost of living compared to somewhere like the US or Canada, but considering the stress, public exposure, and constant abuse from the crowd and a group of protected millionaires, it’s pretty poor.

For comparison, an average MLB umpire makes between $120,000 and can make up to $350-400k based on tenure.

NFL refs might be closer to what a soccer ref does time commitment wise and they make around $200k

I used to ref “professionally” while I was in middle school & high school. I liked it but never had the guts to ref any games for teams older than 15 years due to the pressure. Haha. So I get why people tap out.

Alphonso Davies to Madrid for free over the summer. How do they keep getting so many free guys?!

ImGine they pull that off as well as TAA for a combined zero money spent on transfer fees

Not that anyone has to do anything, but if we were to stop posting Twitter/X posts, is there a preferred platform for everyone?

I feel weird even opening that absolute cesspit now.

    I barely look at Threads

I was thinking the same, but just seems there's less sources on other platforms. Plus Twitter embeds on the site, so don't actually have to click through most of the time.

it really really annoys me that whoever dives after both players go in with high boots wins the foul. Like they both do it, but whoever throws themselves on the floor comes out with a free

Gallagher absolutely begging for a second yellow after just 15 minutes lmao

Threads is completely unhinged. 99% shit engagement bait. I like Bluesky but I don’t think anything will properly take over from Twitter.

I’ve found Threads to be much more user friendly so far, but there’s definitely a lot of engagement bait stuff.

Tried Blue Sky but haven’t really enjoyed it at all and I have no idea how to find people.

This referee is fucking moronic. He’s booked four players inside half an hour, including Jordan Pickford for taking about 15 seconds to take a goal kick. Insane.

Of course we score as soon as I post that. Brilliant work from Ferguson to get up and head that in

Kyle Walker may be the worst right back in Britain based on that 45 minutes.

He offers literally nothing going forward, he has no pace anymore, and he looks susceptible at the back with every Greece attack. What happened to him?

Definitely seems like he’s lost a yard. Brighton absolutely abused him at the weekend. I think he’s relied on his recovery pace for so long he’s never really adapted his game so when he loses that yard of pace his game kinda falls apart.

Guy has been playing hard minutes at a high intensity in an incredibly demanding position doing a lot of heavy leg work for more than a decade. Surprised he made it this long without shutting down before now.
