I know - it’s just a kind of odd choice nonetheless IMO (especially cause they were coming out of their Crow-era too) but hey better than a more typical pick like Nickleback or something lol

They no doubt made a ton of money doing that. That was back when soundtracks, especially ones where bands were picked to write a song for a movie, paid really well.

I think even the band had a feeling that the movie was going to suck, but the director was a huge fan and begged them, so they did it.

It was criminal for the band to not include Surface To Air on INNW. Not only would it have been the best songs on the album, it's a top 5 all-time Incubus song for me.

I don't think the band fought for it to be included on the album. It seems like they allowed Sony to just do what they wanted with the b-sides. Rebel Girls, Hold Me Down, and Surface To Air were released together on a Best Buy bonus disc exclusive version of HQ Live. Makes me sad because they're not streamable, nor were they saved for a deluxe edition of INNW.

It tells me the band was much more focused on having an cohesive set of songs that sequenced well, rather than just choosing the best individual tracks they had from the sessions.

Surface To Air and Hold Me Down are better than most tracks off INNW. I would absolutely love a record in the vein of those two given how great they sound.

They definitely cut the bonus tracks to give the record a more cohesive sound.. too bad that sound was just pretty boring aside from a few standout tracks lol
