“Pink tractor beam into your incision” is just one of the worst lyrics.

Gonna hold myself accountable and say I listened to “Light Grenades” for the first time in a long time and it’s way better than I remember. I still think “Love Hurts” is a terrible song and I don’t get why they did 2 “Earth to Bella”s, (and left off “Look Alive” - one of the best songs of that era.) But way stronger than my memory recalled.

Also, the Halo version of “Follow” still goes. The band version - terrible.

I remember losing interest in this band when they did the song for that shitty futuristic fighter jet movie with Jamie Foxx. Can't even remember the name of any of that shit, but it was all bad. Felt like total butt-rock.

To be fair though, around that time I lost all interest in mainstream rock veteran type bands and shifted towards those up and coming indie types like Death Cab, Killers, Kings of Leon, Shins, etc...

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

I just can't hate an album with Rogues and Anna Molly on it, maybe their two best hooks. and yeah, Look Alive getting b-sided is an all-time fumble

You drop "Love Hurts" and one of the "Earth to Bellas" and add "Look Alive" and "Punch Drunk" and you're cooking with gas.

Cooking with gas worries me, I'm afraid something will blow up.

I actually like both Earth to Bellas and I'm not huge on Punch Drunk, but I can see the vision for sure

I'm kind of an Incubus B-sides truther all the way through. "Monuments and Melodies" instead of "Here in My Room," "Crowded Elevator" instead of like, "When it Comes" and you have significantly better records. Doesn't apply to Morning View, however.

While all the Vultures Feed is like a top 5 Inc song and it's just chilling there on the b-sides record like it's nothing

It was actually supposed to be on the Stealth soundtrack but it got left off

Which is kind of worse, it clears the Stealth songs (which are better than given credit for) pretty easily.

I just realized it’s been 18 years since these guys have released a truly solid record and I let out a depressed sigh.

I’ve enjoyed tracks from each release of theirs post-Grenades but it truly is a mixed bag at best. Their glory days are probably behind them but I’m glad that they’re still having fun playing together!

I actually own a CD copy of Fungus. I don’t remember where it was I bought it (might’ve been Amoeba?). But it was in a used section of a record store. I’ll have to find it

so I just came across this article from back in August, but here's a cool tidbit

Incubus draws inspiration from revisiting 23-year-old album – The Oakland Press

It's been 14 years since the last time they worked with Brendan O'Brien. I hope they can at least build upon some of the great work they did together on Crow, LG, and INNW.

Very interesting. Brendan’s work with the band is top notch and you’re right - INNW is the best sounding Incubus record.

It's a shame that the songs on that specific record vary so much in quality, with some being great and others just boring me.

It’s so bizarre to me that Incubus got tapped to do a few songs for a film like Stealth. The music video is also lolz to me but I hope they got that paycheck for it all.

The director personally selected them and they answered the call.
