So, I had never heard of Mickey's Speedway USA for N64

And... Honestly it handles better than Mario Kart and Diddy Kong Racing haha. I'm shocked.

 

LEGO Racers on the N64 was also good fun (although idk how it compares to the others - probably not as amazing, but still fun)

 

Pod racing Star Wars game for n64 also went hard

 

Haha I'm definitely curious to check it out.

The only racing game I ever owned on N64 was actually Beetle Adventure Racing. It handled like shit but I have so many good memories of it, and the battle mode was actually really dope

 

oh man i remember playing it a few times at church and just getting frustrated with the controls, but i'm sure i'd love it more if i gave it another go

 

It's probably the least known Rare game.

 

Beetle Adventure Racing is the best racer on N64 hands down

 

Did other racing games even have a battle mode at that point? I can't remember that far back. I remember Mario Kart doing it in later games

 

I was about to say, Lego Racers was my favorite non MK Kart Racer. Loved that you could build your own kart and driver.

Also loved the Star Wars Podracing game

 

and the power-ups were always fun (particularly the one with the portal)

 

They did! Beetle did at least and a couple other games did on N64 and PS1. Battle mode was introduced in Mario Kart 64 for the series I'm pretty sure. Crash Team Racing came out in '99 and had a battle mode that was pretty significant as well.

 

Mario Kart had battle mode on N64, it was great

I rented it from Blockbuster when it came out and I played the hell out of it in the few days I had it

 

Anyone buy and play dragon quest yet

 

about 4 hours into it, really enjoying it. I know @oldjersey got it as well

 

It's great, deff has an old school feel in that it is not easy lol. They have done a fantastic job at this remake.

 

Monster Wrangler seems to be an awesome job, I didn't start my party with one but just added one and there is a lot of potential. I believe its brand new to the game too. Wasn't in the original.

 

Yeah Monster Wrangler rules hard. Access to whips and chains, has a lite all-party healing spell. So good

 

Idk why I could never get into that one, I know a lot of people seem to love it

 

I never played double dash. I didn’t start playing Mario kart until Wii.
