No, but I do think socialist influenced ideas can make liberal democracy slightly more tolerable, liveable, equitable, and better for working class people in our lifetimes without having to fight drones in the mountains for 20 years.

Ask yourself this question:
Do you think you can successfully implement socialism under current conditions without yourself and all your friends dying or ending up imprisoned in the process? Because to attempt overthrow capitalism and implement an actual socialist/Marxist society within the imperial core itself In the age of high tech propaganda, drones, surveillance, satellites, ect that is what the inevitable result is going to be.

We both want to help people's material conditions, I want the same kind of society as you deep down. I just want to help people in ways that we can in the short term and am not committed enough to "burn my own life for a sunset I'll never see" I guess. I do not think you're inherently wrong ideologically I think we just have different ideas but what is achievable.

 

I’m at a point that socialism cannot happen within the us but revolution can happen elsewhere and the US would bite and scratch and cry as the capitalist empire collapses into it.

Before today’s high tech propaganda, drones, surveillance, we already have proof that the US will kill if it feels there is a possibility that you can implement policies we both agree on that in a liberal democracy can do all the things we agree they can do.

I do think we are spending way too much time on “leftist joe Rogan” discourse and not “how do we materially improve the lives of voters” discourse

 

The democrats did terrible at the top of the ticket, but there’s a lot of wins at the state and local levels you can look at and be optimistic for 2026

 

I see no real evidence that capital D democrats are opposed to school vouchers or support paid sick leave.

Not sure I’d call some of those “Democratic wins.”

 

This credibility idea really sums it up for me, even if Harris had good plans I would have no faith that she would actually follow through.

On the other side, most people don't believe Trump will follow-through on the plans of his that sound horrible or they don't like. So it cuts the opposite way, Democrats will under deliver and Republicans can't be as bad as people are saying.
