I had this discussion with my mom earlier. Trump got fewer votes than last time. The issue isn't that Harris didn't appeal to moderates; it's that she didn't appeal to her base. They were hoping to bring over a crapload of Republicans, which not only didn't happen, but it meant they lost their base that was going "wtf are you doing with all these republicans.."
