I've been thinking about it a lot and really taking in what everyone has been telling me in here, but I think trump's whole rise to power played a large part in my thinking that hijacking the Democratic party and making it do what you want was an easier idea than building the Green party up to where it is actually competitive in US elections, or building an entirely different progressive party that can do the same thing.

trying to remember back before The Golden Escalator ride and trump was actually a punchline and laughingstock to establishment Republicans, and look at what he has done

Again this really feels like average Americans now are just more influenced by amorphous vibes than actual policy or rhetoric.

And that makes sense for sure. The difference is that Trump isn’t a threat to the people who own the Republican Party, and the sorts of people we’d be talking about would be axiomatically opposed to the owners of the Democratic Party. They gave in to Trump easy. We saw what happened when Bernie tried to run in a primary, let alone gut the whole structure

Biden and Harris tanked the election and handed the country to Trump to appease these fucking people

Not only can you not lay this at the feet of left wing third party voters—you can’t blame anyone other than the campaign itself for absolutely fucking blowing it

  13. What was the Brietbart quote? Politics is downstream from culture? This feels like it rhymes.

What sucks is Walz had the perfect vibes that would have worked for them and crossed over, but they wasted him.

They honestly should have just fucking picked Shapiro. At least then maybe we’d get to see him flounder on a national scale and be done with him

She was one of the few Dems in the House that voter against student debt relief. I would roll my eyes at her too.

what i've come to realize is that... you can't or its hard to make people care about others like trans people or palestinians, but you can make those people know you care about them while caring about others and the Dems just dont do that.

What I feel like all this open public discourse in media over "here is exactly what we need to do to win Zoomer men/Latinos/ect" is like you know they can hear you scheming about them right? So when you do roll out whatever messaging changes you do a year from now, they are going to know it is bullshit and inauthentic.

But the poll results themselves reveal the fix: be offering something to people! It doesn’t say “she likes trans people so i hate her” or “fuck trans people,” it says she’s more concerned with cultural issues than economic ones that would help the “middle class” (god, if i could abolish that phrase lol). People weren’t wrong to feel like she didn’t feel their pain on the economy, or that she wasn’t offering them something. She didn’t, and she wasn’t. They are wrong that she “cares” about trans people, because she was more than willing to throw their future under the bus, but when you don’t stake out a clear position for yourself and identity as a candidate, you allow your opposition a huge opening to define you.
