@estebanwaseaten check again! It’s now at two more theaters near me, one of which is the closest for me and I again didn’t expect them to have it. I’m gonna try to make it to a screening tomorrow afternoon.

 

Moved heretic to next Tuesday. Don’t feel like being out in the public this week.

Really enjoyed Heretic, solid little thriller. Love how it didn’t feel like it had to rush through the philosophical aspects to give us cheap scares. I think I expected for there to be more…. house? But felt satisfied enough by what they did with it that by the end I didn’t care. All three leads knocked it out of the park and now I want blueberry pie

The shot where he takes out the IUD and pulls on that vein is the most difficult time I’ve had looking at a screen in a minute. Grosschills right up my spine

 

Just so you know... an IUD is inserted into the uterus. What you just described is even more horrific than the movie. Hahahaha.

 

LOL hell yeah it is - my brain just embarrassingly autofilled there. It was only a few years ago when I realized that is not what those were, and I’ll still accidentally default to the wrong term every now and then

 

Heretic was sick, maybe one of the best of the year. amazing sound design and uh house design. I like that it really let a lot rest on the actors talking in a room, very Misery coded. probably coulda done without the Topher Grace cutaways but otherwise it held up tension super well

surprised how funny it was too, the we're so grateful for your journey to the other side line took me tf out

 

Lol I read that spoiler and was like what the fuck?????

 

The Crow (2024) was, unsurprisingly, not good lol. Maybe not as awful as I was expecting, it's watchable and visually pretty solid, but just so, so underwritten. No reason to exist.

 

Did Gourley and Rust announce what they're doing next and when? Paging @Daniel because I listened to Torn Curtain without actually watching the movie (wasn't interested) and haven't been able to watch Frenzy yet because it's not streaming anywhere, so I'm holding off on that episode.

I like that they float into horror-adjacent territory from time to time, but the Hitchcock season wasn't really for me.
