I think that's totally fair and understandable to feel that way about him, I definitely look at him with a side-eye these days

 

Digging in Ka’s(rip) discography and this is very much my shit

 

Also checked out recent ELUCID, and The Genius Tape that was recommended in here recently. Good stuff

 

Ka was the best.

I also crossed some kind of threshold with Gibbs where I just can't really roll with the persona anymore though he's clearly a great talent.

Don't think there's a rap record this year that I'm likely to enjoy as much as next year's clipping. album

 

Roc’s album and Mach-Hommy are my favorites of the year hands down

Standouts of the year for me are NxWorries, Chief Keef, Mach-Hommy, LL Cool J, Rapsody, Juicy J, RHQ, Lupe Fiasco, Denzel Curry, Schoolboy Q, Tierra Whack, 1999 Write the Future, Vince Staples, and 21 Savage. I realize I’m sorely missing a lot of women on this list—only two right now. I wish I knew of more great current female rappers.

Also listen to the Ka, Roc Marci and Gangrene albums

 

I wish I liked Doechii, obviously talented, just Not For Me at all really at least on that album

I feel like Vince and Mach-Hommy stepped up a bit this year but it seems like most other artists I like released albums that were "pretty good" or just OK by their own standards (Schoolboy, Ka, Denzel).

 

Denzel, Tyler, and Mach-Hommy for me so far. Joey Valence & Brae if you want something deeply unserious and fun

 

OK the Ab-Soul is sounding mostly great so far.
