BJ's could be a possibility, again they turned my local mall Sears into a Whole Foods so it could happen. They turned the old Kmart across the street from my mall into a BJ's actually.

Another one I see filling vacant spots in malls now is Petsmart.

 

Yep, we also alreadt have a Petsmart in the shopping center near by the mall haha. I suppose any one of those stores could decide to move if they wanted to/timing was right on their leases or whatever, but so many of them have been established in their spots for so long, it's hard to see any of them moving.

I was bummed when our Barnes and Noble, which was relatively large, downsized to a different store down the road. Glad it didn't close altogether but miss the bigger store.

Grocery stores just feel like a weird addition to a mall to me, would prefer retail, but hey, retail stores are dying so. Bjs makes sense here, we literally live in this weird 'deadzone' for that type of store where the nearest one is either 15-20 minute drive south or north. I assume it's because the mall i'm talking about is surrounded by all those other shopping centers that have target and grocery stores and etc, so lots of direct competition.

 

I just read a Business Insider article that said the top chains filling the void of Sears in malls are: Planet Fitness gyms, AMC movie theatres, Burlington Coat Factory stores, Mariano's upscale supermarkets, Best Buys, and Dicks Sporting Goods.

Also on the list of places moving into vacant spots in malls now: Whole Foods, Hobby Lobby, Shoprite grocery stores, H&M, Marshalls, Target, and A bunch of different smaller home furnishing chains I have never heard of before.

 

Anyone remember this movie? Or better yet can share it?

Don't have much to share, but these always bring me back. Did anyone else comb through every Christmas and circle everything you wanted?

 

Yup! I even remember that 1996 cover and I was only 4.

 

I probably went through a few of these but I was all about the Toys R Us Big Toy Book

 

I did the Best Buy and Toys R Us ones for sure.

 

Speaking of catalogs, it’s funny how new console games have stuck to the $50-60 price tag for the past 30 years
