If anyone is actually making this argument, they should know it is a very whack counter.

    1) “created the conditions that made it more likely for Trump to be president” he won in 2016, before she was around. He’s already been president. Dems running a campaign that was significantly more akin to their 2016 failed campaign that got us Trump the first time, combined with Harris not separating from a deeply unpopular Biden is what led to Trump this time. Full stop. Be a vacuous party of nothingness and you’re going to lose more often than not.

    2) Our congress is evil, and made up of evil people, doing pretty much nothing but evil stuff. What “gets done” there is bad, for the most part. I wouldn’t want her to sponsor the stuff that gets passed lol this was an argument trotted out against Sanders in 2016 and 2020, to which I said then: good!

EDIT: felt like it was worthwhile to add, 3) people should be outraged! A lot of shit sucks, and people deserve much better. The status quo has completely failed most people in one form or another. Treating Tlaib & Trump as if they’re two sides of the same coin dismisses all of that.

I don't understand this reading of the results we are looking at in the slightest - this clearly looks to me like voters in Michigan were starving for a more progressive candidate to vote for, and chose to sit the election out (metaphorically, for pres) as opposed to voting for a candidate they felt was unacceptable, which also - at least preliminarily - seems to have been a pattern around most of the rest of the country as well

the problem is not pinning down any one thing that the democrats did or have been doing wrong

the problem is that the list of things they’ve done wrong is almost immeasurably long and any one thing people are choosing as their core issue in this race is all but a symptom of the broken party

A lot of this is still circumstantial because some of these trackers are based off of algorithms if I'm not mistaken, but there are multiple sites and articles being written about how hotlines are overwhelmed.

It's genuinely breaking my heart because I just discovered one of my friends is trans and as someone who deals with suicidal issues this is so alarming.

Edit: side note I know not all of you like me or agree with me and that's fine, but if you ever find yourself concerned for your own safety or your mental health is taking a toll please don't hesitate to reach out and if you don't want to talk to me I can easily supply you with resources

If only there was an example of someone running on “we have to stop tolerating trans people” in the same place as a trans-rights bill was on the ballot so that we could test that idea.

Nahhhh Dems just cannot stop themselves from sucking shit.

Being completely removed from straight male culture, this whole twitch/influencer/streamer conversation has made me feel ancient at 38yo.

I truly had not heard of really any of these people before a couple days ago, and I would say I have a good amount of Gen Z males in my friend circle, granted they’re all queer.

i imagine it's most definitely a thing more relevant when discussing first time voters this election

working with middle school and high school kids, i see so much of the adoration for the lifestyle these streamers portray and that’s the demo where a lot of these darker trad ethics are being lauded

Correction to this: they kicked Hasan out in the middle of a NYT interview because he compared the DNC to Israel on Twitter for their treatment of the uncommitted delegates. Apparently it was Jaime Harrison's camp that wanted him gone and not Kamala's. Still though I got that same feeling.

Very anecdotally but between black male friends and acquaintances on my social media and my students, there is definitely an undercurrent of anti-trans stuff with those groups. I even saw a friend share the Charlemagne clip before it was in that ad. It's depressing.

Trump's own team being shocked at how effective that ad was is the most surprising part of that article when I read it.

I am big Rap fan so I frequent some forums for that type of music and I have seen it with some local black folks on Facebook that there are groups called ADOS (American Descendants of Slavery)/FBA (Foundational Black Americans). I believe those groups initially started in the reparations movement but from what I have seen over the last few years it has got really twisted to be very anti-immigrant by portions of those two groups. Also seemed to be really pushing that Kamala was not black narrative as well.

this is def not shocking, being queer/trans is hard, but it becomes harder when your culture is already homophobic af.

as a queer white kid you can find plenty of people who share your identity that you can relate to.

granted, there’s def some queer/trans people of color in popular culture (TS Madison, Laverne, Lil Nas X, etc) however, those people are also not accepted by the male side of their culture in any way.

  24. I'll forever make the argument that you combat that with an actual message and argument. That this pathetic hiding, running from it, and in the end embracing it bullshit hasn't worked MY ENTIRE LIFE. They get scared and then decide "well, that's a loser, so next time we'll just add that into our platform" and that's how we get here with a loser ass Diet-Republican platform.

Hell, you even had a VP on the fucking ticket with some viral videos defending the issue!

Do you fucking stand for this or not? Clearly their answer is "no, we're scared they're gonna run a deceptive ad against me and we're stupidly bad at countering it even with a billion dollars in the bank."

    Pathetic all the way down.
