I feel like the right-leaning youth is a symptom of the underlying issue, though, right? Like it's sort of like complaining about trump more than complaining about the fertile ground for fascism that this country has cultivated for the last few decades.

Social media owned by like five oligarch lizard people that prioritize engagement over truth or consequences seems like the underlying issue to address. And additionally also winning back the people who are already red pilled

 

I don’t think porn causes sex crimes the way violent movies and video games don’t cause real violence, but it is absolutely worth engaging critically with the specific kinds of porn being watched by men and how it might inform their psyche

I stopped listening to the show a few years ago and this is a great way to describe what it has become (or maybe it always was, idk)

That’s why I’m nervous it could flip the other way and cause an increase. You have these men that have been given access to hyper sexualized imagery at a very young age, to the point where a lot of them have adapted and used that while developing a growing resentment of real life women.

I'd agree it's not my biggest worry, but I do worry about those terms coming back so freely and how that impacts people. Not just those saying it, but those hearing it, and those hearing it re-normalized that feel they are no longer safe to speak up against it. And that dehumanization through language does bug me.

Always was. I know some former Obama campaign workers. They are exactly that or some type of completely disconnected from the current generation.

Ok but which is the chicken and which is the egg? Is it them finding Andrew Tate or porn? YouTube algo quickly turns people towards extremist videos so I'm fairly certain which one starts them down this path.

 

Oh, definitely, and not near the top of the problem list, but very much a little sign of "something in culture is shifting" and politics flowing from culture seems to be often true.

 

yeah, my kids are 9 & 8, and we were just having this conversation the other night after they told me that everyone at school uses 'gay' & 'retarded' regularly, which was something I had thought didn't go on anymore like it did when I was their age

 

I mean we are going to have multiple generations not end up as well off and worse than their parents. That has to be driving so much of this. The current system is not working and this is some of the overflow from that.
