Love Jarrian. It wasn’t his fault lol Saquon just a beast, Jarrian didn’t even go that low, he lowered his shoulder a LITTLE bit and still got cleared

 

It’s not that wild, sometimes you want your DE to hold the point of attack. A lot of 4-3 base defenses have hybrid looks that look like 3-4 & use at least one bigger end, either to overwhelm one blocker with a bullrush or to be able to handle both a tackle and a TE and still plug up stretch & outside zone runs

Armstead has played 3-4 DE at times in SF so he has that versatility

 

But he’s been bad at DE

The point is they are pointing the blame at each other on whose decision it is.

 

3-4 DE sure but 4-3 DE no. We've done both with him.

In specific packages like 4-3 “under”, 46, and “big nickel” etc it’s customary to use a 4-3 DE like a 3-4 DE

 

There’s also the 3-3-5 nickel which exists in some exotic hybrid defenses like Brian Flores’

 

was sitting on like a 15 game CFB winning streak and I lost to my best friend by two because poor clock management. i feel like les miles rn.

 

The worst timeline

 

i was trying to hammer the hurry up button to get a play off before the two minute warning and somehow hit the timeout button with 2:01 left and then got into a sticky situation on third and one and just made terrible play calls. idk why I was even running the ball, I was moving the thing through the air. just replaying in my mind this L is gonna haunt our program for years to come. chanticleers down BAD

 

@CarpetElf this is why I always did substitutions by formation in madden

some formations are better with a run stopping DL where you’d usually have a pass rushing one and stuff like that

 

i also forgot to mention i only even had the opportunity to win by playing SICK defense and stuffing him two straight plays and then getting an easy user pick by reading his pass perfectly and I squander it by running Princeton in 1935 offense for two straight plays. sick to my STOMACH

 

I play sick defense in Madden & I have beaten some people who are very sick at offense because of it haha

I might be the only person who’s played Matt IRL (ie not online) that can hold him under 40 points lol

 

He does 3 specific things that the AI will never stop but I’ve figured out ways to stop all of them by user controlling somebody in coverage and calling specific plays / audibles

the hard part is guessing when he’ll do one of those things but I’m p good at learning from gameflow mid-game, getting inside my opponent’s strategy, and making smart adjustments, or baiting them into thinking I don’t see something and then shutting it down at the right time

 

However I’m way too OCD to play online

fuck playing with people who understand how to manipulate madden glitches to get instant sacks / pre snap coverage busts… and fuck playing with lag haha

 

yeah i have three plays in CFB that are virtually unstoppable against AI and if I'm getting user adjusted I have hot routes that can counter those. i deviated because I try not to spam them. i should have spammed them with a minute 30 left lol

 

Up until Madden 2024ish, I’ve been able to get 20 INT seasons with a linebacker or a safety pretty regularly

but they really nerfed user defense in the recent games and it’s made it not as fun for me. Like, sure, it’s not realistic to read plays that fast and that’s only possible because of having third-person aerial view rather than first person view. I get why they chose to do it. But it’s fucking dumb if I do everything right to get a pick and the AI literally slows down my guy / makes him have like 50 acceleration when it’s normally 85+, and/or makes him do nothing when I press triangle, and/or puts a 1 second delay between when I moved the L stick and when he actually moved

 

EA programmers really think they’re slick and think a 20 year madden player won’t notice that shit lol

 

Dustin once had an elaborate gameplan to beat me in a Super Bowl and it worked. The gist of it was he threw to the sideline more, focused a lot on corner and comeback routes and quick outs etc, so I can’t even see well enough at the beginning of the snap to affect as many passes - that’s always been a flaw of playing user defense, there’s no way to tilt the camera sideways to get that third person view from the CB position

I was very impressed and it was a very good game, he quarterbacked extremely well and made no mistakes, stuck to his gameplan even when it was boring, did a great job mixing in rushing attack in and surprising me with the timing and direction of the runs. I still think that’s one of the best games of Madden ever played against me

And then he quit our madden leagues forever because it was exhausting to have to be that perfect and play such a specific way to thwart my defense and my rushing attack lol (running the ball was also broken in that game to be fair, it didn’t penalize you enough for running into a lineman, i benefitted from that more than I should’ve)
