I know i sound like a crackpot in here talking about creating a workers party as a third party option, but this is exactly why i think that’s the actual only option forward: i think associating yourself with the Democratic Party ties you into knots morally because of who the party is ultimately beholden to (the rich), and ruins any credibility you have in the minds of a lot of working people who would actually be open to a lot of left policy.

 

It is cute that you think a progressive takeover of the Democratic Party isn't a thing that was already tried from 2016-2020 during the Bernie/Squad/DSA era and absolutely squashed. With the Green Party there is no huge money backed institutional forces in your way.

Plus again people like progressive policy, but hate Democrats.

no, I hear you. I was picturing utilizing existing infrastructure and steering it in a completely different (ie progressive) direction, but if you're saying that it already failed what was probably it's closest chance at that already then I can accept that it's not a viable option

also, I didn't realize how much people hate Democrats really until I woke up this morning at 4 AM and looked at my phone

This is why I’ve not been active in Chicago DSA for the past few years, BUT it does sound like there’s a growing caucus of people in the chapter who want to move away from this being the focus.

Harris gained 50k votes on Biden in Georgia. Its just that Trump gained 200k votes. PA she's down a bit compared to Biden but its not fully done counting yet, could still definitely match Biden's numbers and overall PA turnout is going to be higher than 2020
