"why are people scared of immigration" is an absolutely valid question, and I feel like the answer is that the republicans have spent the last 8+ years turning it into a boogeyman and the dems have completely failed in counter messaging. And while that lack of counter messaging isn't the responsibility of Harris alone... its still the responsibility of the democratic party

I really can't state though how much I think the country has shifted culturally in the last 5 years

 

No matter what she campaigned on she couldn't fix misogyny and racism that's so deeply imbed in this "great" country of ours. You mix that with election interference, voter suppression, the sheer lack of education in this country and the US' thirst for gun loving and violence and she didn't stand a chance. This place is repugnant.

I think a few months ago you and Wharf had some good posts about the Dems being responsible for not giving people a reason to answer poll differently when it came to immigration.

but the margins are looking big enough that third party votes probably didn't swing anything. but if you're looking for people to blame is a) Trump and the fuckers who support him b) dems for catering to the middle and refusing to run a campaign that could actually pull people in from the left c) Biden for not declaring he wouldn't run back in fucking 2022 when we could've had a fucking primary d) fucking Trump voters and then maybe you can blame people on the left who refused to vote for Kamala

I actually get a decent amount of paid time off, so I should use it to visit Norway, Sweden, and Finland.
