Fuck Harris and the Dems of course, but was really hoping to be done with that orange fuck after the last 9 years — he and his cult members are insufferable and being related to one has been awful, to say the least. Biden won A) because i don’t think any president could win reelection in the midst of COVID, and B) he actually did run to Harris’s left. Fucked up as Trump is, he gives people an explanation as to why they’re struggling (scapegoating marginalized groups, specifically migrants) and says what he’s going to do to fix that (mass deportation, tax cuts, etc.). It’s racist xenophobic bullshit, but the Democrats don’t offer anything that truly counters it - “look at these charts, you’re actually fine what are you complaining for?” type attitudes. A better Party would be capable of explaining that the wealthy ruling class are the enemies of the people, and explaining what they’d do to help you defeat them and improve your life.

There’s a chance republicans end up with 55 senate seats. Seems like that would allow Trump to basically shape his cabinet however he wants. My hope was that it would be a 51-49 split so that “moderates” Murkowski and Collins would be willing to vote against any insane picks he makes. That hope is gone.

Perhaps a more positive note, somehow in this blood bath it actually seems possible the dems could take control of the house.

I've seen too many on the left on social media that has been very condescending and saying to others that the country is doing great under Biden and that it is their fault that they are struggling financially. Even as a health care provider i've felt the pressure financially, I can't imagine those that work making minimum wage.

I would say come to Taiwan.

Pros - inexpensive and great quality healthcare, inexpensive food, clean major city, organized and swift public transportation, people actually respect each other here, friendly to foreigners, pacific island within good travel distance from both East and SE Asia, over 100 mountains to climb, and the street/market food here is amazing.

Cons - never know when it might get into a conflict with China.

part of me is feeling like its hubris to think another candidate who actually went after the left and called out Biden's mistakes would've won and would've have been burdened by the same economic problems as Harris

but definitely would've been nice to at least try it. at least this way when it comes to 2028 one can *hope* that "PIVOT EVEN HARDER TO THE CENTER" isn't going to be the winning move
