Veilguards writing is just generic fantasy dragon world slop that i’m accustomed to for 98% of
games that are similar. It’s certainly acceptable and the voice acting makes it much better than just tolerable.

 

The voice acting is mostly phenomenal. Emmrich is the only character and performance I find too cutesy

 

I’ve also seen people criticizing the score for various reasons, mostly that it’s generic and too modern but I think it works and you kind of know what you’re getting with Hans Zimmer. It’s more movie score than video game score

Wildly unrelated I’m on part three of Play Nice, it’s so funny reading about what was happening behind the scenes of AKB beteeen 2016-2018 and being like huh turns out we were all right in assuming activision was swallowing blizzard whole

To each their own but there's only a handful of 'gaming' reviewers I actually like and find amusing / non toxic and informative and Dunkey is one of them. I'm not going to watch this particular video though as it looks like gameplay with commentary and I don't want spoilers till I get around to it.

Speaking of toxic youtube gamers, I had no idea the Critical Drinker had a gaming channel (the critical gamer) and yuck. I see he already posted about Dragonage but I'm staying far away as I do with this film / movie channel.

Dunkey is actually hella toxic (at least as far the discourse is concerned) but also very funny

it's impossible to say if it's good or not

 

also I have literally 0 tolerance when it comes to cringe shit and I thought The Veilguard was perfectly fine wrt the writing. I had trouble getting into it because I wanted to play something else, but not once did I think BioWare has missed the mark.

 

I feel so old and out of touch. Last time I REALLY paid attention to reviews and the such was the days of Totilo/Schrier Kotaku, IGN, Joystiq and print magazines like EGM lol. I guess you could say Giant Bomb too, but I was mainly there for Jeff Geretmann after the Gamespot fiasco.
I have zero idea who any of these YouTubers are or twitchers. I guess this is my old man yelling at cloud moment.

 

I know they were different teams I think but this doesn't feel like Andromeda Bioware. And from what I've read, there are no plans for dlc as it's full steam ahead in the next ME game and I am hella excited for that.

Finished Metaphor. Incredible game and one of my favorites this year. Incredible writing and storytelling. I appreciate how they respect your time and the pacing is so much improved compared to Persona 5. Persona 6 is gonna have big shoes to fill now because this was a damn near perfect JRPG.
