this is a good one to start with but I would almost recommend playing inquisition and then veilguard since it’s very consequential to this story and will get you familiar with the lore and world building which makes Veilguard even better if you care about that stuff. origins and 2 are good with lore and story and stuff but they just aren’t as playable

 

Inquisition is an essential game imo. “Barren year” my ass. GOTY for a reason.

Yeah I feel RomSaga and metaphor would make my list longer too if I'd had played them but they're immediately next on my backlog list before February. Trails is just an eventually game, whenever I finish prior games in the franchise lol.

Yeah one could definitely YouTube a summary of the earlier games but inquisition is just a good ass game as it is.

Apparently the new Destiny game IS confirmed to be gacha. Between that and the hoyo game targeting Animal crossing type players, gacha is conquering the market.

 

My money's on ReZero*. They'll crossover with anyone.

*Literally.

 

My son started Spider-Man 2 yesterday and was absolutely hooked. He stayed up until midnight playing and I woke up this morning to him playing it again.

 

Ok finished the initial visit to the crossroads. DEFINITELY GoW vibes and I reallllly like it. While I kinda miss the open-ness of inquisition I'm enjoying the level design. Like I said, kratos would feel at home haha.

 

Ugh Lucanis. Making me doubt my class pick because he's such a goddamn fantastic rogue and has wings to die for.

 

At the final dungeon in Metaphor. Really feel like this may be the Persona teams masterpiece. They took everything they learned from that series, created an incredible new world and wrote the best story they ever have. I also think the pacing is much improved from the Persona series. It feels like they’ve done a much better job getting from one point to the next, where in Persona it could drag a bit. The one nitpick I have is dungeon design/concepts are still kind of meh.

If Veilguard's writing and story keeps making me feel like they think i'm 5 years old in a kids movie I may not be able to finish even with the gameplay and environments.

I simply do not think the writing is making me feel 5

 

For reference I’m 16 hours in and the only times the writing has felt elementary was during the intro and when you meet emmrich

 

Mario and Luigi got a 5 from IGN oof. Dream team was a tedious slog I dropped after 10 hours so I’m not really surprised

Yeah I have zero idea how anyone feels like that. My only issue with the writing was how simple it seemed once I met with Lucanis like it was a short and to the point introduction but then I remembered I also listened to the podcast so technically I already knew him in my head but in game the introduction to any supporting characters hasn't really felt fleshed out.
