    Best Album:

I think it’s a toss up between Billie, Chappell, Taylor, Beyoncé, Sabrina, and Charli (and maybe Ariana?)

I don’t see them giving the top award to Taylor back to back years but you never know, people didn’t expect her to win last year for Midnights. If I had to give my one answer on who will win it would be Billie.

I do see Kendrick getting nominated and winning for “Not Like Us” which would be very cool!

I can’t see Taylor getting AOTY on back to back years, but she’ll definitely get the nomination. I can also see Bleachers getting that surprise nomination too.

  4. ah nice this will remind me of all the albums that have gotten memory holed over the past 12 months

I could see Knocked Loose or Blood Incantation getting nominated in the Best Metal Performance category

  6. it's important to remember that the Grammy voters have no taste or idea what is popular at any current moment

Yeah true, just like academy voters when it comes to the oscars.

  8. After the Turnstile noms last year I wouldn’t put it outside the realm of possibility for Knocked Loose in that category, but also not gonna hold my breath

When did Grammys make the full pivot to really only recognizing pop in the main categories?

I don’t think we’ll ever see a Beck or Arcade Fire type win in those categories ever again.

Still fondly remember watching them announced the nominees back in 2016 and being completely surprised about A Sailor's Guide getting into the Album of the Year mix. One of the coolest nominations ever.

I think AOTY is those seven you named plus the Post Malone LP. Ariana might trade out for a left-field surprise.

As for the winner, not sure who I'd say has the momentum right now. Kinda thinking Chappell.

They have to cater to the mainstream fans. It's basically become a popularity contest

maybe I’m misremembering, but they didn’t always cater to Top 40 did they?

I actually remember being younger pre-2010 and getting mad at them for not recognizing mainstream success, but it seems they over course corrected somewhere?

Blink's One More Time missed the Grammy cut off last year. I could see them being in the Rock Album category.

The last decade or so I'd say they've been catering to mostly really popular pop/r&b for album/artists of the year. You have a few examples of outside genres but not many.

This is interesting...I figured he would have had a ton of nominations...

"Zach Bryan’s The Great American Bar Scene would have a good chance at a nomination here, but Bryan didn’t enter his music in the Grammy process this year."

They've whiffed on Zach Bryan big time the past two years. He absolutely should have won Best New Artist two years ago, and they somehow didn't even nominate him.

Wasn't I Remember Everything nominated in a few categories? As well as the self-titled album?

Yeah, " I Remember Everything" won the best duo/group performance category in country. He lost country song to Chris Stapleton and country album to Lainey Wilson, and didn't get any nominations in the non-genre categories.

Had he submitted, he probably would have been assured nominations in Album of the Year, and Record/Song of the year as well as many other categories.

    Bummer.
