It could probably be/have been spun as benching him for a week was to basically teach him a lesson for checking himself out of the game and just trying to make sure he understands to be a better team player. But the way they handled the announcement and reasoning they gave doesn’t really give them that path anymore.

and as a head coach, idk how you can go back to your team after selling them the idea of Flacco, having one crap game where everyone was presumably shaken up by the move, and then say ‘lol jk’ and expect to have any authority after that

not to say I disagree from my personal perspective with swapping him back in - AR has been pretty dreadful this season and the silver linings I’ve seen on his play are very generous IMO, but at least I have the copium of knowing he might start putting it together and we won’t have to do the QB carousel thing again this offseason, and any potential downside of this season falling apart more than it already has is pretty low for me personally
