looks like they had some sort of prearb contract with him that extended to a club option in his final arbitration year so declining it doesn’t make him a free agent but it will make him resent the brewers front office

 

notoriously cheap owner is cheap

yeah just basic cheap owner stuff you know shaving some money off his contract improves his return even if only slightly and that’s worth it to some teams

 

It’s at least *possible* he could get a tiny bit more in arb which would sure make me chuckle
