Was thinking about going to my dive bar Tuesday night and getting drunk while watching election coverage (and posting with you fine lot of course), but I am afraid they won't even have it on their main big TV lol

I can't watch this election alone in my apartment. Somebody needs to hear my great takes in person.

I only leave my house to go to work, so it's not like I know firsthand or anything, but I would assume any place with a TV is gonna have the coverage on Tues night

I get off Election Day at 4pm and now only work like 11-4 the next day..it’s going to be so annoying.

yeah, I just found out that my wife and kids all have Tuesday off also. she works as a school nurse in the school where voting is for our town - I assume it's just easier to have no kids in the buildings where voting is going on

I don’t get any days off for it but if I had the choice yeah I’d much rather have Wednesday off.

I was planning on voting right after I drop my daughter off at school but I was a bit surprised to learn her school is closed. Luckily her mom can take her for the day but I wonder how schools being close affects voting.

I didn’t realize this wasnt a thing everywhere, I just assumed it was, but we get off here because the schools are used as polling locations in our state. I definitely assumed that was a the case most everywhere hah

Election Day should be a federal holiday and it is insane that it still isnt.

It might be, I just haven’t had one be my polling location. This is the first time I’ve had a kid in kindergarten so I’m just learning what the closures are lol daycare they were open for everything, they really need to give those daycare teachers more holidays

I will still contend we got way better policy and rhetoric from Biden during his first 2 years than I was ever expecting when he won. His rhetoric on the campaign had gotten further left as time went on and I assumed it was just to try and win progressive coalition votes but then he came in and actually went pretty big on stuff

There has been this major collective hold back of "omg first woman president. Break the Glass Ceiling!" discourse since Kamala became the nominee I think because that partly worked against Hillary in 2016 and that it still traumatising for many people to think about having that dream being taken away at that moment in the worst possible scenario.

It is going to be really interesting to see that emotional catharsis let out from women if Kamala wins after having to hold it down and not really being allowed to put a heavy focus on the idea of the first female POTUS publicly the past few months.
