I'm worried going back to Inquisition the combat is gonna feel too stale. It's been a few years since I played it last but I remember it being... fine where as with this one its just so dang fluid and fun.

 

Dragon Age is so sick

 

Also it def feels like a sequel to Origins in some ways thematically, vignettes, and in that a lot of what is referenced or teased in the codexes wrt to the previous age mythology in DAO.

I think some people who say they liked DAO don’t lol

 

I’m really on the fence about it. Not feeling the art style and watching some let’s plays the writing and voice acting looks pretty simplified

 

They definitely simplify some of the dialogue trees but man I actually really like the voice work esp my girl B. The combat is great esp for feedback and control when it comes to magic casting. I feel that’s a tricky thing to pin down but they nail it on this. Story is ok hasn’t grabbed me yet but that’s really my only concern at this point.

BioWare games are not for watching let’s plays tbh I couldn’t think of a worse way to experience this game haha. I get not wanting to drop the money without getting a feel but I promise you second hand clips don’t do justice to what this game feels like in your hands. The good news is you’ll probably be able to get it discounted within a year maybe less. I’m pretty sure I bought inquisition used for 15 dollars in 2015

 

I don’t know if they’re any more simplified from 2 and inquisition tbh but of course people did complain about those at the time. It’s definitely a BioWare game in that it’s getting hate on launch and the previous games that people used to hate are now the high points of the series people say they miss lol

 

It’s so funny because I’ve seen some people point out that when origins dropped it was getting shit on relentlessly for being dumbed down baldur’s gate

Bellara is a fantastic character I can't say it enough

I ended up buying COD and that Phasmphobia game in my ps5 lets go

 

Definitely not drinking the Kool Aid of DA even though it looks like a great game. Diving into the new Castlevania add on for Vampire Survivors, playing the new COD (its a blast), Gears 5 MP and the new season of Fortnite just dropped.

 

I think I’m shelving DA until the holidays. I’m just not in the mood for it and the small nit picks that I had are exacerbated by me forcing myself to play it.

 

I might check out DA at a similar time, halfway through Metaphor-ish, and then I really wanna get back to Tactical Breach Wizards and UFO 50.

I also bought Kentucky Route Zero after many years of wanting to try it, so that's up next too.

 

For me DA:V biggest downfall is the writing. Granted i'm not far in (just got the Crow dude) but it's like they told an AI what they wanted with the parameters to be as unseasoned as possible and just went with it.

 

The said The Lighthouse and Caretaker is so freaking cool. I wonder if the faction vendors are remnants of the live service aspect.

 

I played a bunch of the zombies mode in COD today and it’s pretty cool. It got hectic so damn fast.

 

I saw a lot of people say veilguard had bits of GoW (2018 and ragnarok) in it and I totally see it as the game goes on. Not a bad thing either as I loved both games so I don't mind it.

 

I see that certainly in some of the gameplay and exploration elements. GoW does it way better, but I imagine that was an influence when it came out in 2018 during development in this.

 

Inscryption has its claws in me. 1/2 though Act 3 and really that’s all I want to do, adulting/parenting be damned
