I have a question, or maybe a recommendation request, but I’m sure you all can help me out…what are some of the most “metal” songs from typically “non metal” artists?

not necessarily meaning exclusively like pop or folk artists doing “metal covers”; I’m thinking like something like a traditional rock/punk/alternative/indie artist with an original song that is “metal”.

    any ideas?

The first thing that comes to mind is the King Gizzard Petrodragonic album

I was just about to post this; this song rips. I think they're opening their tour this year with this song

I think this was my first exposure to "metal". Potentially Wait and Bleed? Not sure which one I heard first, but Weathered was my first CD ever, and my older brothers had a mix CD with Slipknot/Korn/Rob Zombie, etc, and I'm not really sure which came first. I gravitated to it from a pretty early age.

Standard fare raccoon themed deathcore. What's not to love?

I'm pretty bored of deathcore at this point in my life but damn it all if stuff like this isn't good for a nostalgic chuckle once in a while, makes me think of my college days hahaha

I fell off a cliff with deathcore, I was obsessed in 2007-08 but now I very rarely check anything out, then when I do it literally sounds exactly the same as it did before. I think if Lorna Shore decided to freaking chill with the drums I'd be more inclined to like them but nothing else has grabbed me.

The ones I still generally pay attention to are Lorna Shore, Carnifex, Shadow of Intent, Aversions Crown, Ingested and sometimes more hardcore-tough-bro shit like Traitors or Spite. Beyond that I feel pretty much nothing from a lot of the new bands.

Oh ya, any deathcore i listen to now is half for breakdowns half for trying to reach the high of playing halo 2 in my dorm listening to beneath the massacre.

Lorna shore and other modern deathcore...I kind of like the atmospheric feel they put in parts. Its a nice contrast with the heavier parts. I just can't get past the cheesiness of it all. Takes itself a bit too seriously. But i see the appeal.

Yep. The atmospheric and more death metal parts in Lorna Shore are fantastic. No denying Will as a vocalist. I hope they take a turn like Job For A Cowboy did.

Yeah I hope LS can add a tiny bit more melody to their songs, or some form of variation

The part where they started riffing at the end was sick then they ruined it with a corny breakdown

Not techy enough to be tech death, not deathy enough to be death. Nice balance.

“Bolt Thrower” and “Tomb Mold” are some of the hardest names in metal

I feel like No Cure fall into the metallic hardcore but a little bit of death/core sprinkled in. I saw they just signed to Sharptone. They’re from Birmingham AL so it’s cool to see a local band making moves.

I thought people were over exaggerating but I tried their newest album and turned it off in less than ten minutes. There’s like a thousand bands doing the same sound but better

I think the acacia strain is the best American metal band of all time so you could say I’m a bit of a deathcore fan
