Trunk or treats have ruined Halloween. We’ve had one kid the whole night.

We had a ton of trick or treaters in our neighborhood, pretty cool

 

we just got back, kids got a ton of candy, my rip wheeler costume was fire

 

They’re events hosted by like churches and local governments (typically the police departments) that centralize the Halloween experience into a “safer” area like their parking lots or parks that siphons off families from walking around their neighborhood and meeting their neighbors

the last few years we've been going to a big huge neighborhood like half a mile away from us where they sorta semi close off the street, and almost all of the houses are in on it, and they set up shop in their driveways or out front with the candy and stuff, play music, fog machines, a lot of them have fires going, a few even have drinks for the adults

it's cool, but it's definitely not how I remember it being as a kid - we just ran from house to house and rang the bell or knocked, and the neighborhoods were never semi blocked off, but most people at least sorta went slowish that night

our town had a Trunk or Treat, and we went because the kids wanted to take their costumes out for a spin and see their friends, but it was honestly pretty lame. one of the other mothers there even mentioned to me how it kinda sucked but she couldn't really talk because she hadn't been part of setting it up

 

Our neighborhood is decently active, we walked around for a little over an hour tonight and the boy got a couple pumpkin containers full of candy. We leave a bowl while we’re gone and then are usually home in time for some of the older kids still going around

 

people with Facebook brain rot who think candy has fentanyl and razor blades in it and their kids are gonna get human trafficked

 

Some people would prefer not to talk to other people ever without a cop present
