    from a Reddit comment:

    Rodri has now become the:

    - First Spaniard to win the Ballon d'Or since 1960.

    - First DM to win the Ballon d'Or since 1996.

    - First Prem player to win the Ballon d'Or since 2008.

    - The first player other than Messi or a Real Madrid player to win the Ballon d'Or since 2008.

    - First Man City player to ever win the Ballon d'Or.

  2. The biggest award stealing was Kane leading PL in goals and assists and not winning player of the season.

Just realized this will probably make the racist chanting against Vini even worse.

biggest award stealing was them choosing to not award the ballon dor because they didn’t want to give it to Lewandowski

Bittersweet that Rodri's won the award whilst out with an injury that he'll probably not return 100% from.

Now the party line being "he didn't win because he fights systemic racism" toward the same award program that gave an award to Jenni Hermoso for fighting systemic sexism *the same day* is just... it's truly amazing how this meltdown is spiraling.

  11. Pep claims City aren’t taking the cup competition seriously but I’m fully expecting a strong lineup from them and loss tomorrow lol

This whole ordeal reminds me on how all American football MVP awards are now just Quarterback awards. Too much internet discourse based on stats that predominately favor offensively minded players.

  14. Carlo winning best manager over Xabi is what people should actually be upset about.

When I lived in Spain, I remember being asked why I, a neutral, hated Real Madrid. This is exactly why.

Imagine having everything in football handed to you, referees clearly on your side, the best managers, the best players, absolute buckets of cash, and still being this pathetic lol.

They’re acting like the average r/theother14 user lol.

  16. And from what I’ve seen since he joined, Jude is a perfect fit for them. Brilliant player. Comes off as very smug. I really want to like him too, but he makes it difficult.

I’m not going to lie my post was about ETH getting sacked in the morning and us supposedly getting Amorim by the evening. But yeah this meltdown is legendary.

I personally think Real Madrid's reaction sours the successes of Spain's national teams (senior and youth) of the past year. I mean, I just can't find myself getting behind a nation that cry arses over something so trivial. It's embarrassingly juvenile.

  20. How much did Madrid getting smashed by Barca over the weekend influence their behavior regarding the award ceremony?

Oh yeah, oh yeah, everything is terrible.

is Ruud only going to manager the Leicester game then? I wonder if him and Hake will even stay on

Well, I've got some good news for you in that basically outside of Carvajal, Madrid has basically nothing to do with this at all lol

Seems so and I don’t know. Amorim loves his assistants but two of them are in the running for the Sporting job

Hope this doesn’t derail Sporting, who have had a brilliant start in both the league and Champions League. They’ve now had their manager and sporting director picked off them inside a month which has to really suck.
