The concept of podcasts is fine but there are very few actual good and necessary ones.

 

Same with TV shows and movies

 

Not at all the same. The closest comparison is books. Even truly awful films and TV require a bare minimum amount of skill that isn't needed for books/podcasts because there are far more people involved and much more money

The amount of skill required for the bare minimum is access to a word processor. The ability to self publish with minimal financial investment and tools is what separates it from music or visual media

 

You're conflating skill with accessibility. There's a lower barrier of entry to something like writing a book, but besides making a network TV show if you have access to a phone you can make a movie, a song, a YouTube channel or anything.

Whether or not it's a good book or a good movie is dependent on skill. It's literally the definition of skill "the ability to do something well".

 

Better equipment and more money doesn't make something inherently better. You can have all the tools in the world and still be a shit creator.

On the one hand games do have a uniqueness to them but on the other that uniqueness is the only draw and games lose in any direct comparisons that can be made

 

Haven’t played a video game in years. I replayed a link to the past over Covid. Before that it was easily 10+ years
